In 1989, a visionary group of citizens created an organization that has quietly made a significant difference in the Oconee County by bringing people and organizations to the table to identify the needs of the community and work together to fill those needs.
In 1993, the Oconee County Area Resource Council was recognized as a Family Connection Partner and designated by the Oconee County Board of Commissioners as the official advisory body for human services in Oconee County.
The Collaborative became a non-profit in 2009 to enable the Council to develop programs to fill critical gaps in services while continuing to focus on networking and relationships. If we had to summarize in one sentence what Council does, it would have to be “People Helping People."
To identify, develop, and enhance community based services, including education and prevention, through a collaborative process with individuals, groups, local, state, and national organizations.
All Oconee County residents will live in a healthy, safe, and stable environment.
