History & Mission Statement

In 1989, a visionary group of citizens created an organization that has quietly made a significant difference in Oconee County. By bringing together people and organizations, Oconee Area Resource Council, is able to identify the needs of the community and work to fill those needs by combining resources and services.

Our goal is that all residents of Oconee County will live in a healthy, safe and stable environment.

In 1993 the Council was recognized as a Family Connection Partner with the State of Georgia and designated by the Oconee County Board of Commissioners as the official advisory body for human services.

We meet every month on the second Tuesday at 8:30 am at the Cooperative Extension office in Watkinsville. Meetings are open to the public. Please feel free to join us!

Our Mission is to identify, develop and enhance community based services, including education and prevention, through a collaborative process with individuals, groups, local, state and national organizations.
