Christmas Wreath Fundraiser

The wreath has been used symbolically for centuries. The Christmas wreath has evolved into a sign of welcoming the season that emphasizes generosity, giving and the gathering of loved ones.

Did you know that 965 children live in poverty in Oconee County? This holiday season, the Oconee Area Resource Council plans to sell 965 wreaths through Norton Creek Farms to benefit these children. The funds raised will support our Food for Kids program, which aims to close the hunger gap in Oconee County and our Mentor Program, which matches qualified mentors with children in the Oconee County School System.

We are hoping that, as a community, we could take a stand together to help fight poverty in Oconee County. We would greatly appreciate your consideration in purchasing a wreath and displaying it outside your business to support the community effort to help children struggling in Oconee County.

If your business is interested in buying a 20” Fraser Fir Wreath, please go to our online store or email us at volunteer@oconeeconnection.org  or call 706-769-4974 for more information.

Oconee Garden Tour

"As I was driving one morning I started thinking about gardens and how much my grandchildren enjoyed helping and playing in my garden. Children and gardens just seem to go together. My mind drifted and I started thinking about work, and then the Mentor program. We had been trying to figure out places where Mentors could meet with their children at the schools. Then I remembered that some of the schools in Oconee County had gardens.
Then the idea came to me! A Garden tour would be the perfect fit to help raise funds to support the mentor program and also support the gardens at the schools. I imagined benches, tables and places to sit and visit in the gardens. Spaces filled with flowers and plants and special conversations.

And that was the genesis for the First Annual Oconee Garden Tour... Nurturing children and gardens in Oconee County". - Ann Hester, Executive Director

The Oconee Garden Tour is a partnership with the Watkinsville Garden Club and the Oconee Resource Council to highlight and tour gardens in Oconee County, promote the Watkinsville Garden Club and raise funds to help support the Oconee Mentor program
