Programs and Committees
These committees consist of various businesses and organizations and individuals serving Oconee County. They focus on various
issues and concerns in the community and work to fill gaps in services to improve Oconee County. Committee focus changes
as needs arise.
Food Committee: The Food committee currently has 2 ongoing projects.
Food 2 Kids is a partnership of Oconee
Area Resource Council, North East Georgia Food Bank, Oconee County School System. This program helps to feed students of Oconee
County who show signs of being without food through the weekend. A brown bag of kid friendly food is distributed to
students on Friday based on need. This is not an income based program - students are nominated for this program by
counselors and teachers on an as needed basis. We are currently serving all 43 students in need in Oconee County.
Senior
Grocery Bag Program is a new partnership with Oconee Area Resource Council, Action Inc., and HandsOn NEGA to improve an already
vital program in Oconee County. Grocery bags are distributed monthly to senior citizens in need filled with perishable and non-perishable
items that are a necessity for senior citizens. Currently 24 seniors are in the program. The committee is working
to increase donations and volunteers to assist those on the waiting list. We are currently accepting donations and volunteers.

for assistance through the school system and toys are distributed in time for Christmas. OARC is always accepting donations
of new items for this program at our office. For more information, please call 706-769-4974.
